Created by Allison Eden Studios, this one-of-a-kind mirror mosaic sculpture transforms an authentic U.S. military combat boot worn during active service in Afghanistan into a powerful work of contemporary art. Every hand-cut mirror tile reflects light—and symbolizes the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the men and women who have served our country.
This original combat boot was worn by an American soldier for an average of 18 hours a day, often for days at a time, while serving in some of Afghanistan’s most challenging combat regions. Like countless service members, the soldier often slept in these boots to remain ready for action at a moment’s notice. They crossed rugged mountains, deserts, and dangerous terrain, carried wounded comrades to safety, and endured months of deployment where sand and rock replaced the comforts of home.
Allison Eden was honored to participate in a nationwide charitable initiative that invited artists to transform authentic combat boots into meaningful works of art. The traveling exhibition celebrated America’s military heroes while raising funds to provide iPads for deployed troops and recovering veterans, helping thousands stay connected with loved ones during service and recovery.
Rather than hiding the boot’s history, Allison enhanced it. Hundreds of individually hand-cut mirror tiles create a brilliant surface that reflects every viewer standing before it—a reminder that the sacrifices of our military are shared by an entire nation. Bands of warm gold glass symbolize honor, courage, and hope, while the mirrored surface captures changing light, making every viewing experience unique.
Handcrafted in Brooklyn, New York, this sculpture represents the intersection of fine art, gratitude, and service. It is both a collectible artwork and a lasting tribute to the dedication of America’s military community.
