When Resorts World New York City wanted a spectacular piece of custom artwork celebrating the spirit of New York for its casino, Allison Eden Studios was commissioned to create a vibrant Times Square glass mosaic mural filled with the color, movement and excitement of the city.

For Allison Eden, Times Square was the perfect subject. Few places capture New York’s personality more completely: towering skyscrapers, brilliant signs, Broadway theaters, yellow taxi cabs, crowds of people and an ever-changing collision of architecture, entertainment and color.

The resulting mosaic transforms those unmistakable elements into a richly layered piece of custom architectural artwork handcrafted in glass.

Look closely and the mural becomes a visual tour of New York entertainment and culture. References to Broadway and Times Square are woven throughout the cityscape, surrounded by colorful marquees, illuminated signs, soaring buildings and classic yellow taxis traveling through the streets below. Above the skyline, deep cobalt and sapphire blues transition into a dreamlike night sky filled with stars and a crescent moon.

Rather than creating a literal photographic reproduction, Allison Eden interpreted Times Square through her distinctive artistic language—using color, pattern, reflective surfaces, dimensional glass and mosaic craftsmanship to capture the feeling of New York.

The reflective qualities of glass are particularly suited to a casino environment. As guests move past the artwork and the surrounding lighting changes, individual pieces of glass catch and reflect light, giving the cityscape a sense of energy and movement.
