Glowing School of Fish — Custom Backlit Glass Mosaic for Bondi Sushi NYC
At Bondi Sushi in Bryant Park, New York City, a luminous school of handcrafted stained glass mosaic fish transforms the restaurant interior into an immersive underwater-inspired environment.
Designed and fabricated by Allison Eden Studios in Brooklyn, New York, the custom installation features stylized fish rendered in brilliant shades of blue, aqua, turquoise, and green stained glass. Integrated backlighting illuminates the glass from behind, bringing out its extraordinary color, texture, translucency, and movement while creating a dramatic focal point behind the sushi bar.
Each fish was individually crafted by skilled glass artists using carefully selected pieces of stained glass. Variations in tone, texture, and reflectivity give the fish a jewel-like quality that changes throughout the day as the surrounding light shifts. When illuminated, the glass appears to glow from within.
The installation demonstrates how custom architectural glass artwork can become an integral part of restaurant interior design, rather than simply functioning as decoration. The illuminated fish establish a recognizable visual identity for the space while complementing the sleek, contemporary atmosphere of Bondi Sushi.
For hospitality designers, architects, restaurateurs, and commercial interior designers seeking memorable feature walls, Allison Eden Studios creates bespoke stained glass and glass mosaic installations handcrafted in Brooklyn for restaurants, hotels, bars, casinos, retail spaces, residences, and public environments throughout the United States.
